PCI Symposium 2020: Conversations on Curation and Performance in the Time of Halting and Transformation

The Performance Curators Initiatives (PCI) will conduct an online international symposium from October 5-10 2020, 4 to 6 PM (PH Standard Time) via Zoom and YouTube Live. Entitled Conversations on Curation and Performance in the Time of Halting and Transformation, this symposium aims to capture edgy conversations across cultures, practices, and geographical contexts, to explore the role of curation in rethinking and reimagining performance and gathering in the time of physical distancing, forced isolation and non-live interaction.

The performing arts field has been one of the most affected by the seeming halting of the world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the restrictions on live gatherings, physical distancing, and limited mobility that came with lockdowns all over the world. However, amidst this time of ‘halting,’ there is also a brewing ‘transformation’ in the field of arts and performance, and we are seeing the increasing role of curation in organising diverse platforms in shaping new directions and new conceptions in performance at this time.

Our keynote speaker will be world-renowned performance theorist and art historian Dr. Amelia Jones from the University of Southern California, and this event will host experts and presenters in the field of curation and performance from Italy, Belgium, Canada, Japan, Australia, USA, and the Philippines.

Do not miss the chance to participate in this timely and rare occasion where these notable scholars and practitioners in performance curation from all over the world are brought together in this thought-provoking series of conversations.
The symposium is free for all, but participants are required to pre-register at https://forms.gle/Ladp2HHkLPfoqBs6A for monitoring, as slots for each session are limited. For further inquiries, please email pcisymposiumsecretariat@gmail.com. This event is in partnership with Japan Foundation-Manila and Asia-Europe Foundation Culture360 Program.
